ORIGINAL VEE-JAY Beatles Xmas record sleeve. Chicago’s VEE-JAY Records distributed all BEATLES records in the U.S. from February 1963 to October 1964, after which industry giant Capitol Records took over. VEE-JAY printed this holiday sleeve early in October of 1964, a few weeks prior to the expiration of their distribution rights. They did this in order to make all 11 existing BEATLES 45’s look “new”. And it worked! Thousands of rabid BEATLES fans re-purchased 45RPM singles they already owned just to get the cool Christmas sleeve. Sleeve was designed by Hollywood graphic artist George S. Whiteman. In the intervening 50 years, these have become quite scarce. This is an original, not a reproduction. NEAR MINT condition. No tears or creases. Measures 7″ square. RECORD SLEEVE ONLY! NO RECORD!
